How To Fix iPhone 6 Plus Camera Not Working - Hardware Repair Solution

Follow this guide to fix the camera not working on iPhone 6 plus. This guide offers you a very detailed logic board repair solution of the problems which the iPhone 6 plus camera is not working and the earspeaker is with no sound. Now let's follow the leads to find out what is the real cause of it.

iPhone 6  Plus Camera Not Working Example:
The iPhone 6 camera is not working and the earspeaker is with no sound, If your iPhone 6 camera is not working, you can find the logic board repair solution from another article "What To Do When Your iPhone 6 Camera Not Working". If there are some camera failure in your iPhone 6, you can get the hardware solution from article"How to Fix Camera Failure on iPhone 6_CPU Repair".

Failure Phenomenon:
After the phone dropped into water, the camera is not working, no sound of the earspeaker, the screen could not be turned off when calling (Non-inductive distance).

Maintenance Procedures:
Installing the main board to the testing screen assembly, after testing, these problems have been found: the front and rear camera are not working, the screen could not be turned off when calling, there is no sound in record as well as the front earpiece.
Observing the motherboard, it is found that the touch screen had been fixed before. We suspected that it was the high temperature that caused the above malfunctions. Starting with the front camera connector J1111, found that the connector cracked and photosensitive control tube Q1101 was removed. Replaced the front camera connector and filled up the phototube Q1101.The physical location of Q1101 as shown in Pic 4-81.

Measuring the ground impedance value of pin 1 and pin 2 (see Pic 4-82) of front camera  connector J1111, the value is infinite. These two pins were the earphone signal, replaced the audio chip directly. The location of the audio chip was shown in Pic 4-83.

After replacing the audio chip, the ground impedance value of pin 1 and pin 2 of the front camera connector J1111 are normal. Continue to measure the ground impedance value of the front camera connector J1111, it is found that the ground impedance value of the connector pin 7 camera is 2.85V which is too large. In general, the problem is caused by the 2.85V conversion tube weld poorly. Directly replantating the U2301 chip, the ground impedance value of pin 7 of J1111 is back to normal. The physical location of U2301 as shown in Pic 4-84.

The camera and earphone are with normal functionality before the installation test. The only left problem is the screen could not be turned off when calling. Measuring again, the ground impedance value of front camera connector J1111 is normal, the power supply of 23 pin distance sensor on front camera connector J1111 is 3.3V which is normal as well. The turn-on signal of 25 pin distance sensor on front camera connector J1111 is 1.8V which the voltage is lower than normal. Check the PCB spot bitmap, it is found that the turn-on signal was connected to the C2 pin of main touch chip U2401, as shown in Pic 4-85.

Check the circuit diagram (shown in Pic 4-86), it is known that the distance sensor turn-on signal was pulled up from resistor R2405 to power supply PP1V8_GRAPE.The voltage on Pin 1 of the pull-up resistor R2405 is lower than standard, then measure the ground impedance value of power supply PP1V8_GRAPE and find it was only about 30. The physical location of the R2405 was shown in Pic 4-87.

After checking PCB spot bitmap, it is found that PP1V8_GRAPE is connected to main touch U2401, main power U1202, touch control tube U2403, part of resistors and capacitors, as shown in Pic 4-88.

Pic 4-88 Connected Components of PP1V8_GRAPE (Spot Bitmap)
There were so many components connected to PP1V8_GRAPE power supply, no complete short circuit to earth, it cannot be burned by electric shock method, we only could dismantle the connected components one by one. After the main touch U2401 has been removed, the ground impedance value is remain unchanged. Also removing the connected filter capacitor, the ground impedance value is still remained unchanged. Then observed the main board slowly under the microscope, it is found that U2403 have been changed by last master. Remove the touch control tube U2403 directly with the air gun, the ground impedance is measured to be normal. Remove a touch control tube U2403 from the disassembly board, then installed on the phone and power on, the test result was normal, then the iPhone 6 plus has been fixed.
